  This year remember to:

  Don’t take yourself for granted, make sure no one else does either. Expect to fail, because that only means you tried. Try even harder the next time. Make sure you say what you need to say when you need to. Don’t let anything or anyone stop you. Appreciate all things that are beautiful. Be thankful. Take more pictures, listen to more songs. Write, sing (even if you’re horrible at it). Make art, make things. Remember that what you make makes yourself. It builds who you are, it’s a reflection of where you are of what you want to become and everything that’s going on. Seal this year in time, in a way that you’ll remember forever. Make a lasting impression, this is where you start.

  You did a pretty good job at remembering what you said before beginning 2011:

  Make a promise to yourself and keep it no matter what. Fail, stand up, fail again until you get it right. Love harder, love longer. Look out and be surprised by everything you were not expecting. Be thankful and more humble. Put that rebel yell to work, be sure everyone hears what you have to say. Be thoughtful, more caring. Go ahead and reach out to those you’ve wronged and neglected this year, they’ll understand eventually. Be that what you want to be, uncompromised and true. Listen to more music. Never neglect the time to do what you love, it’s all you’ve got.

  Also, don’t you dare forget what you told yourself before beginning 2010:

  Be sure you love, be loved and let love. Smile, laugh, if needed cry, pout and try to laugh again. Work harder, be happier, move forward. Storm out, rush in. Learn, study and be free. Sleep less, rest more, write! Find someone to hug, and someone to kiss. Jump around, make sure you at least get to dance once. Discover music and travel, travel to wherever it is you’ve always wanted to go. Make sure you fight, fight over whatever reason with whoever may fight you, stand your ground. Be brave.

  Because in the end, you’ll be fine, and I’ll be fine.

  We’ll be alright.
